Prayer for Church Choir (Catholic Prayer Before Singing)

A prayer for a church choir asks the Holy Spirit to unite many voices in one act of worship, protect singers from pride and anxiety, and make sacred music serve the liturgy.

Church ministry is both practical service and a spiritual offering. The prayer, Scripture, and guidance below can help you prepare with a peaceful heart and faithful Catholic intention.

A Catholic Prayer

Heavenly Father, receive our rehearsal, our breath, and every note we sing. Purify our motives so that we seek Your glory rather than applause.

Lord Jesus, teach us to listen to one another with patience. Strengthen tired voices, calm nervous hearts, and help us accept correction without resentment.

Holy Spirit, make our harmony an image of the unity You desire for the Church. May our music help the assembly pray, proclaim the Gospel, and encounter Christ. Amen.

Scripture for This Ministry

“Come, let us sing joyfully to the Lord; cry out to the rock of our salvation.”

— Psalm 95:1

“Sing and play to the Lord in your hearts.”

— Ephesians 5:19

These passages remind us that faithful service begins with listening to God and becomes fruitful through humble, loving action.

How to Prepare Well

• Pray together briefly before rehearsal.
• Mark breaths and entrances so the text remains clear.
• Protect your voice with rest, water, and honest limits.
• Serve the congregation rather than performing for recognition.
