Prayer for a Lost Pet (Catholic Prayer for a Safe Return)
This Catholic prayer is for the safe return of a missing pet. God cares about every part of creation and invites us to respond with compassion, responsibility, and wise action.
Why Pray for Animals?
Animals are part of God’s creation and depend on human beings for humane care. Prayer does not replace veterinary treatment, safe handling, or responsible ownership. It helps us act calmly, gratefully, and mercifully.
“Seek, and you will find.” — Matthew 7:7
Prayer for a Lost Pet
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Lord, You see every path and hiding place. Protect this missing animal from traffic, weather, hunger, and fear. Guide neighbors, shelters, and rescuers to notice the right signs, and lead our pet safely home if it is possible.
Teach us to be good stewards of the animals entrusted to us. Give us patience, honesty, and courage, especially when care is costly or decisions are difficult. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
“Praise the Lord from the earth… beasts and all livestock.” — Psalm 148:7,10
