Prayer for Shelter Animals (Catholic Prayer for Loving Homes)
This Catholic prayer is for safety, care, and loving homes for shelter animals. God cares about every part of creation and invites us to respond with compassion, responsibility, and wise action.
Why Pray for Animals?
Animals are part of God’s creation and depend on human beings for humane care. Prayer does not replace veterinary treatment, safe handling, or responsible ownership. It helps us act calmly, gratefully, and mercifully.
“His mercy is over all that he has made.” — Psalm 145:9
Prayer for Shelter Animals
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Father of all creation, protect animals waiting in shelters. Calm their fear, heal neglect and injury, strengthen caregivers, and send responsible adopters. Provide food, medicine, space, and patient hands for every animal in need.
Teach us to be good stewards of the animals entrusted to us. Give us patience, honesty, and courage, especially when care is costly or decisions are difficult. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
“Praise the Lord from the earth… beasts and all livestock.” — Psalm 148:7,10
