Prayer for an Aging Pet (Catholic Prayer for Comfort)
This Catholic prayer is for comfort, dignity, and loving care for an aging pet. God cares about every part of creation and invites us to respond with compassion, responsibility, and wise action.
Why Pray for Animals?
Animals are part of God’s creation and depend on human beings for humane care. Prayer does not replace veterinary treatment, safe handling, or responsible ownership. It helps us act calmly, gratefully, and mercifully.
“Even to your old age I am he.” — Isaiah 46:4
Prayer for an Aging Pet
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
God of compassion, thank You for the years shared with this faithful companion. Ease the burdens of age, preserve comfort and dignity, and help us recognize changing needs. Give us courage for difficult decisions and gratitude for every peaceful day.
Teach us to be good stewards of the animals entrusted to us. Give us patience, honesty, and courage, especially when care is costly or decisions are difficult. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
“Praise the Lord from the earth… beasts and all livestock.” — Psalm 148:7,10
