Prayer Before Pet Surgery (Catholic Prayer for Protection)
This Catholic prayer is for protection, skill, and recovery before pet surgery. God cares about every part of creation and invites us to respond with compassion, responsibility, and wise action.
Why Pray for Animals?
Animals are part of God’s creation and depend on human beings for humane care. Prayer does not replace veterinary treatment, safe handling, or responsible ownership. It helps us act calmly, gratefully, and mercifully.
“Into your hand I commit my spirit.” — Psalm 31:5
Prayer Before Pet Surgery
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Heavenly Father, watch over this animal during surgery. Guide the surgeon and every assistant, protect against complications, and bless anesthesia, treatment, and recovery. Give us peace while we wait and wisdom for aftercare.
Teach us to be good stewards of the animals entrusted to us. Give us patience, honesty, and courage, especially when care is costly or decisions are difficult. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
“Praise the Lord from the earth… beasts and all livestock.” — Psalm 148:7,10
