Prayer for a Sick Dog (Catholic Prayer for Healing)

This Catholic prayer is for healing, comfort, and wise veterinary care for a sick dog. God cares about every part of creation and invites us to respond with compassion, responsibility, and wise action.

Why Pray for Animals?

Animals are part of God’s creation and depend on human beings for humane care. Prayer does not replace veterinary treatment, safe handling, or responsible ownership. It helps us act calmly, gratefully, and mercifully.

“The righteous care for the needs of their animals.” — Proverbs 12:10

Prayer for a Sick Dog

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Merciful Father, look with kindness upon this dog who is ill. Ease pain, restore strength, guide the veterinarian, and give patience to everyone providing care. Help us make loving and responsible decisions without fear.

Teach us to be good stewards of the animals entrusted to us. Give us patience, honesty, and courage, especially when care is costly or decisions are difficult. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

“Praise the Lord from the earth… beasts and all livestock.” — Psalm 148:7,10

Practical Steps to Take With Prayer
